Brand loyalty programs are all the rage right now, especially when it comes to flying. Clients meticulously collect and redeem points (or miles in some cases) for more flying options, and some reward initiatives also offer exclusive deals for not only flights, but also consumer products, electronics, entertainment options, and more.
Good news according to Travelweek for those clients who love the Virgin brand. Virgin Group and Virgin Atlantic recently announced plans for a new loyalty program that is aimed to reward all Virgin-wide clients, come 2019. A new company has been set up to manage the initiative, Virgin Group Loyalty, where the already-existing rewards start-up, Virgin Red, will be integrated within this new program.
Virgin Group Loyalty will be launching next year and will owned by Delta Air Lines and Virgin Group. Andrew Swaffield, CEO of the Monarch group and former CEO of Avios, will be leading the company as CEO.
Virgin Atlantic’s clients will still use miles as a far of rewards, as the program will continue. They will still be able to collect miles and tier points to redeem within Delta, Virgin Atlantic, as well as a variety of other air carriers, as is done currently.
Still, in the future, these members of Flying Club will also be given increased ways to redeem and collect miles that will be spearheaded by this new Virgin-wide rewards initiative. Stay tuned for additional information, as it comes down the pipe regarding this.
Swaffield chimed in on the new rewards program stating that Virgin is a very admired brand across the globe and United Kingdom, with 53 million clients being served annually within its 60 companies. He went on to note that the ambition for this program is to bring together Virgin companies to work as one and appeal to clients by combining their efforts and develop truly outstanding offers.
