TripAdvisor Launches New App For Apple TV

Dorathy Gass

TripAdvisor, the globe’s largest travel website, is well known for helping potential travellers plan and book their perfect vacation. They reach approximately 340 million unique site visitors monthly, and have about 225 million reviews on over 4.9 million attractions, hotels, restaurants and more. The site has recently announced the launch of a unique app for Apple TV. This historically marks the first time the site will customize an app for television.

Breaking Travel News reports the app is being called the “TripAdvisor Apple TV app”, the app will provide users a highlight of TripAdvisor’s content, providing images of the website’s Travellers’ Choice award-winning destinations and other travelling interest points. The app will offer these images in a slideshow format, and will provide users an insight into travelling, through an easy one-swipe process. This will also include their famous travellers’ reviews, as well as bubble ratings.

Adam Medros, TripAdvisor’s senior VP of global products notes that his company is thrilled to provide Apple TV users incredible travel insights and photos through this specialized TripAdvisor app. He adds that television watching is a visual experience, and he believes that the new TripAdvisor app, customized for Apple TV, will provide travelling ‘eye-candy’ to those who use the app to lay out plans and book their next travel destination.
Some features of the TripAdvisor Apple TV app are:

• Travellers’ Choice: Offers a platform for users to view TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award-winning restaurants, attractions, hotels and so much more.

• Top Destinations: Based on TripAdvisor’s vast reviews and opinions from travellers who use their site, this feature will offer potential travellers the opportunity to see award-winning cities around the world.

• Wisdom of the Crowds: Provides TripAdvisor’s bubble ratings and reviews from the travellers that visit their site.

Perhaps the best news? The new app is currently available, and it is free. It is also offered in 21 languages, and those who are interested can head over to the App Store to download.
