One of the best things about traveling is dining out; and there is no doubt that one of America’s favorite dish (whether you are hitting a fast-food joint or enjoying a nice sit-down dinner), is pizza. While everyone has their own opinion about what makes a great pizza pie, travel site TripAdvisor recently gathered reviews from its users to determine the ‘best of the best’ as it relates to pizza, across the United States of America.
First off, TripAdvisor compiled a list based on reviews of restaurants over the past year; with higher rated dining establishments requiring at least 500 reviews, along with a minimum 10% of comments claiming the restaurant had ‘the best pizza’.
Curious on who ranked the highest as it relates to pizza? Drum roll please … the top three pizza restaurants across the U.S., according to the report on CNN, are: Juliana’s Pizza (Brooklyn, NewYork), Pizza Time of St. Augustine (St. Augustine, Florida), and Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria (in Anchorage, Alaska of all places). Keste in NYC hit fourth place; and fifth place was awarded to Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco, California.
While a Chicago pizzeria did not hit the top five when it came to best pizza place, the good news is, it more than made up for it in another best pizza list, complied by TripAdvisor. This time around, (once again from user reviews) the site analyzed the top cities for pizza in America. Much like the top pizza restaurants list, cities were chosen based on the quality and amount of pizza restaurant reviews from TripAdvisor users, when compared to other cities across the nation. When all was said and done, according to TripAdvisor, Chicago topped the list as the best city for pizza at number one, New York snagged the silver at second place, and New Haven, Connecticut hit third. Rounding up the top four and five spots were Orlando and San Francisco.
So, if you are a pizza connoisseur, and have yet to plan your summer vacation, you may want to place the above factors into consideration before going on holiday; and judge for yourself if the cities and restaurants meet your criteria for the best pizza ever.
