In this day and age, there seems to be a GoFundMe account for everything, and while some who ask for donations are deserving of the greater public’s generosity, not all of these accounts are created equal.
Take for instance, a story coming out of New Jersey.
A man, who stems from the state, recently had a little too much fun in another state (West Virginia). Getting drunk, he called on an Uber to take him back home and ended up racking a $1,600+ bill, due simply to the sheer distances of the ride.
So now, the man is looking to the online community to help him pay the large bill. But there’s a little more to the story than meets the eye.
Time revealed that Kenny Bachman lives in Gloucester County, but, as stated above, had a little too much to drink in West Virginia. Ordering an Uber, he believed the driver would take him back to West Virginia University, to a place where he was staying at. Bachman ended up falling asleep in the back seat, and when he woke up, about two hours later, he had no idea where he was headed.
To make matters even worse, and a little more expensive, apparently a drunken Backman requested an UberXL (a vehicle that holds up to six people), as well as there was additional money needed for tolls.
Backman has stated that he challenged Uber about the fare; however, was unsuccessful in his plight, as the company was able to confirm that the ride had happened.
Sticky situation to be in, and yet another controversy that is linked to Uber. It’s hard to say who is right and who is wrong in this situation; however, if anyone out there is compelled to support the cause, visit GoFundMe.com for more details on how you can help this young gentleman out.
